Ok, I haven't caught a single descent fish all winter. Just wondering what type of areas do they like to stay around during the winter? I know alot of them tend to suspend, but other than those....where do they go? I just havent had any luck at all...not even the occasional descent fish. Since its gotten cold...I've caught maybe a half dozen fish total. Me and my brother went out saturday, and we marked a bunch of fish suspending, but we couldn't hoax any into biting...we threw a fnf at them, suspending jerkbaits, and even tried minnows underneath a float with no luck.

45 degree rocky banks with deep water real close(I don't mean temperature), and preferably on the northwest bank. Look for these banks around the mouths of creeks, and anywhere they will be spawning in the next few months.

Those suspended fish are the hardest to catch.

Throw a brown hair jig, with no trailer......and fish it real slow

Bluff walls are always good for me this time of year but you must have bait present. As the water begins to warm they will move closer to the pts. and cuts for pre-spawn. Then I will begin to target the 45 degree banks with mixed structure, such as chunk rock and gravel.

Some days they will just not bite. Those are usually the first bluebird sky day after a front passes such as this past Saturday.

Like they have said Bubba Bluffs with bait fish in the area, Try the transition areas on the bluffs either end where the depths aren't straight up and down. Main lake points at the mouth of the creeks where there is deep water close by and 45 degree angle banks that are close to main lake or close to mouth of the creeks. Fish tend to stay deeper and stay closer to main lake this time of year because the water temps are more stable. Give it about 6 more weeks and then you can start fish'n in back of the creeks and pockets. Fish should be in a spawning mode or getting close by then. Fish usually start spawning around the full moon of march and april. Depending on the weather.
