Well, I had the pleasure of fishing with Bubba today. I met him around 9am this morning, and we grabbed some breakfast at shoneys. Then it was off to the lake. It started out really nice with a light breeze. We fished the first brushpile in about 17' of water and I got the first keeper. We fished there a little while longer, and donated some jigs to the depths. As I was putting on another jig, it was like someone hit the switch for the fan. The slight breeze turned into a 15 mph wind. We decided to try and find refuge in another spot, and by now the winds were howling. Well, there is no rest for the weary, but we battled on. We both caught a keeper out of this spot in about 20 feet of water, and one non-keeper. After a couple hours of getting bites, and getting hung, we moved to the third spot. We fished it for an hour or so, got a few bites, but did not catch anything there. Both of us had finally had enough so we called it a day.
Bubba has got him a nice boat, and I enjoyed fishing with him. He got to see the Bar under some not so great conditions....lots of whitecaps....but he now knows his boat will handle some rougher water......and neither of us got wet, so no fires for drying sox
Water was muddy in most places as well, and ranged from 47-49 degrees
We will have to do it again soon Bubba.
