My grandfather owns 60 acres 5 miles on Bristol side of Hiltons, VA ( not that I expect anyone to know where that is). Its about 10 miles from Wadlow Gap Rd. on Hwy 58. His farm is in a nice bend in the North Fork of the South Holston and I have heard that the trout fishin is really good there but I havent had much luck. Its privately owned so as long as I fish from the bank I dont need a VA license. Just wonderin if anyone would be interested in goin up that way with me sometime. Its a beautiful spot and Id like to learn how to catch some fish there but I just havent had much luck (only been a couple times though). Just lemme know if anyones interested.

1) It's the North Fork of the Holston not South Holston

2) There's good reason you haven't had any luck with trout. There ain't none in that river. Might catch a smallmouth or rock bass every once in a while, though.

sorry about the incorrect nomenclature. I slept in this morning and havent had my coffee yet
. It sounds like I need to get my info from other sources from now in regards to the north fork of the HOLSTON river.

there some shoals that would be good for wading but if you set foot off of the bank, whether wading or in a boat, you have to have a VA license. Especially when the river is low, like now, it is very easy to wade out there.
