With the way the weather has been lately(up & downs, fronts everywhere), Do you guys have a certain method while attempting to figure out a pattern? I was just watching the Bassmasters classic on TV and seen em' mention certain peoples "patterns" and got to thinking that I haven't really thought about this too much, and probably haven't put enough thought into it when I do catch a fish. As far as paying attention to what exactly I caught this on, what depth, and what type of structure I caught it on. So do you guys have any certain method when trying to figure out any kind of pattern? Wether it be during a tourney, or not.

Great question!! I've wondered this too on how others determine a pattern. I didn't realize until last year how important a pattern is. I'm like you I don't think after I catch a fish I'm just glad I caught one.

i sorta pay attention to what i was doing and where the fish was when i catch one. That way you can sorta put the peices together and figure out how you need to fish.

The more you fish the easier it will be to pattern fish.

Stop, look, listen, remember and most important THINK!!!!!!

just start thinking after you catch a fish. check what structure they were on check your depth, see what the wind was doing think of every reason that fish bit. then if you're lucky enough the next few your catch will narrow things down. the biggest thing i have a problem with is remembering my presentaion...slow, fast, pausing etc..... i zone out too much. thats how i try to pattern fish though most of the time i don't catch enough to pattern them!

Wind and depth has the most influence on how I put together my pattern.

I AM GOING TO PUT MY 2 CENTS WORTH IN.I TRY TO TO LOOK AT SIGNS.I NO THERE ARE TIME TO USE CRANKS,PLASTICS,AND OTHER THING.BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK AROUND YOU.LIKE THE THE OTHER DAY I HEARD FROGS SINGING.THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH BUT FOR ME I KNOW ITS JUST ABOUT TIME TO START FISHING AT NIGHT.THAT TELLS THAT THE FISH ARE ON THE MOVE.EVERY YEAR I KEEP RECORDS WHEN THE RED BUDS START TO BLOOM,FROGS SING,SEE MORE BIRDS AT THE EDGE OF THE WATER LOOKING FOR BAIT FISH,ECT.YOU CAN COUNT ON THESE SIGNS LIKE CLOCK WORK.IT CHANGES SOME EVERY YEAR BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT ALWAYS PRETTY CLOSE.I TRY NOT TO GET HUNG UP ON ONE THING.SOME PEOPLE USE CRANK BAITS MOST OF THE TIME.THEY CATCH FISH.BUT THEY MAY SHOULD OF USED JIGS.YOU HAVE TO BE VERSITLE AND THAT TAKE TIME.I AM NOT A PRO BUT I CAN MOST OF THE TIME CATCH FISH.I USE TO BASS FISH STILL DO SOME.BUT THESE MEN ARE RIGHT ABOUT IF YOU CATCH FISH 10 FT. OFF THE BANK WITH A CRANK STOP CRANK STOP MOVEMENT.THEN WHY WOULD A PERSON GO OUT 30 FT. OFF THE BANK AND DO THE CRANK STOP CRANK STOP AND CATCH NONE.IT ALL IN LOOKING WHAT YOU ARE DOING,AND WHAT THE SIGNS AROUND YOU ARE TELLING YOU & DEPTH,COLOR OF WATER,ETC.SOME OF THE BEST FISHERMEN I KNOW TRYED TO TELL ME THIS AND FINALLY I STARTED DOING THIS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO.AFTER COMING HOME FOR YEARS WITH NOT MUCH MORE THAN A BIT.I THOUGHT I KNEW EVERYTHING COME TO FIND OUT I DIDN'T.
