There are no wake signs posted on the marina upstream of Calhoun's in Knoxville on the Tennessee River. I have seen plenty of marinas on the channel at other lakes where there is a buoy line or other defining structure that shows you where you can and cannot make a wake. The outer side = wake, the inside = no wake.
What do they mean at that marina on the TN River? There's no buoy line or anything to indicate where the zone is enforced. When we passed it last Sunday, I noticed the signs and just stayed towards the other side of the river.
Do they intend for folks to slow to idle for several hundred yards while passing the marina?
Or is it a proximity thing?
I'd imagine a barge throws a large wake, and I doubt they'd slow down.
I am thinking the no wake zone doesn't apply to river traffic, but rather to those in or near the slips...but thought I'd ask here to get other opinions.
Thanks!
