Well guys I re re redecided on the new gun and ordered it today. I decided to go with a cheaper one so I could get all the goodies to go with it. It is a Savage Model 12 FV 22-250. I am going to get an elecronic predator caller, Harris bipod,6-24X40 scope and all the reloading supplies that go with it. I like the others but if I had gotten one of them it would be April or May before I wouldve been able to do any hunting with it. Later on if I still decide I want to have a high end tack driver I can save up for it but for now I just want to get in the woods. It's supposed to be in Monday. I'm already on pins and needles.

May I suggest 38.0 Grains of Winchester 748 in front of a Sierra 52 Gr. HPBT? it shoots awsome in mine. So does IMR 4064- but I don't remember the charge.... 36.2 Gr maybe?

Wow a pre 64'! I'd like to see that when your done. to bad winchester sold out (Browning
) and quit making the good ones. I bought my model 70 2-3 years ago and its a strait shooter but the action feels cheap so I guess they've been going downhill for a while. I looked at their website and if I remember right is only putting out 4 models and their not that hot. Hey Snoot, remember the numbers these fellers are giving us.

You already have a tack driver. With some careful load development I promise you will have a sub 1/2 MOA gun. My Savage VLP 223 shoots several loads less than 1/2 and a couple loads that AVERAGE .33. This is not a "best group", this is all day long.

Buy a handful of different bullets and a few different powders and get testing. Let the rifle tell you what it likes. Every rifle is a bit different and will have its preferred bullet and load.

Saw a show last night that showed the Savage factory, an American factory I might add, building a rifle for a woman that hosts the show, can't remember what the name of the show was. I was real impressed with the manufaturing. Then they showed her on the range siting in her gun, man that thing sure shot tight groups.

I have had some Savage rifles in the past and was always satisfied with their performance. The first one I had my dad gave me a 22 pump with an octagon barrel that had belonged to him and his brother. That was the best open site squirrel gun I ever had, too bad some thieves stole it from my house.

Well I got it in today and me and Snoot got it sighted in. I still have to get a bipod for it but that will come later. I put the sun shade on for the pic cause I think it looks cool, I'll probably never use though. I also picked up a cheap Johnny Stewert electronic call so now all I need is the time off of work to go hunting.

When you get ready to test some different loads I have a chronograph and hart rifles rest with good leather bags. I usually burn gunpowder at Cherokee just south of Meadowview but I gotta send them my dues for this year. I would be more than glad to take you. Snoot, too but I don't want to ruin my reputation there too bad!

Thanks a bunch, when I get the stuff ready I may holler at you. I still have to get the dies and stuff, I bought some Hornady V-MAX 55gr so I could shoot until I get everything I need. I dont like factory ammo but these things are pretty nice.
