It was announced today that B.A.S.S. and Skeeter-Yamaha have join together and

Skeeter/Yamaha is now the new official boat sponsor for the Bassmaster organization. They have taken over several different divisions of B.A.S.S. including the Classics , The Elite Series, Bass Federations, Womens Bassmaster Trail and several others.

This could be a good thing.. a very good thing. Especially since G3 is owned by Yamaha.

Wonder if they will make the PROs use the Skeeter/Yamaha on the last day like they did Triton before they (Triton) decided to pull out?
I heard they were going to let the pro's use thier own rigs. Guess Triton didnt like that.
Well I dont blame the pros at all. For one thing, it has to be a chore just to move all your gear over to another boat, not to mention that a lot of those guys are sponsored by their boat brand. I think it is a good move!
I know that many of you guys have never worked any of the big Pro tours so let me give you some information on how this works. During any of the qualifying parts of any of the events when the cameras are not running the Pros fish out of their own wrapped boats with what ever sponsor is on them. On the last two or three days the Pros are required to fish out of the Boat sponsors boats when the cameras are on them. Once the co-angler part is over so is the private boat part. Now you will see that the anglers are fishing out of designated wrapped boats wearing many sponsor names. On the night before the final days the Pros are assigned a designated boat with designated sponsors on them and they are given the shirts and clothing that is affilliated with that boat to wear during the final days. Those sponsors such as John Deere, Frito-Lay, Oberto's, AT&T etc etc that have paid big bucks to have their boats used and pay big bucks to have those Pros in those clothes for Television advertising. I know this to be fact because I have worked both the B.A.S.S. and FLW tournaments when they fished here on Old Hickory and seen it all first hand. I have watched the Pros putting their gear in the boats they are assigned and watched them be handed the clothing that matches that boats logo wrap. That is the way that game is played. Next time you get to talk to a Pro ask him and he will tell you that is the way it works. Each big name Sponsor that has boats fishing the last two or three days of televised fishing is required to own and operate three boats at every event. One for fishing from and a back up incase of boat problems while on the lake a backup boat can be taken to the angler. The third boat is the one normally on display at the fishing show. I have seen one time that the Show boat had to be removed and taken to the lake for the angler that had problems with two boats during the event...

FLW is the only one to still provide the last two days boats for the pros. BASS stopped this past year-2007 season and as far as I know that is still the case- because they knew TRITON was going away and they did not want to have to provide boats. They sold the ideal as "branding the anglers to their sponsers boats" sounds great. But now that Skeeter / Yamaha has become the primary boat sponser "thinking outloud here" wonder if bass will remove that rule of them using their boat and make them come back to the SPONSERED BOATS.
I don't know that they will force them to all get Skeeter boats for the qualifying but I would be that when the TV cameras are rolling Skeeter Yamaha package boats will probably be required but then alot of the Pros are already fishing out of Skeeters. Quit a few of them show up at the Skeeter Owners events with their wrapped Skeeter Boats.

I like a skeeter boat myself.
Wished mine was wrapped. Hey Robbie, the Skeeter would look good with a ETF wrap

Take my word for it Charger, you don't want a wrap. They get dirty they stay dirty, They get scuffed they remain scuffed. They are cloth type fabric that has a rough surface and are very hard to maintain if you want them to remain looking good. The only reason the Pros can't run the boats more than a year is because the wrap begins to shred and peel. Before the boats can be sold they have to go back to the factory and have the wrap stripped and scars and scratches repaired and then be re-gel coated and buffed. Buddy of mine went through that once with his personal boat and said he will never do that again......

That's good to hear....now if FLW would get on board....I might have a chance to get some extra $$ when I fish their tournaments....that is if I can weigh in some fish...

Anyone that fishes out of a Skeeter boat can win Skeeter Bonus money as long as the tournament is recognized by Skeeter as a qualifying event. I have won money three times in the last two years by Winning Organized events. The SMBCBT Tournament is a Stratos-Ranger Sponsored Trail yet if a Skeeter Boat wins the event That Skeeter Boat wins Skeeter Bonus Bucks for the win. The tournament director gives the Skeeter Boat owner a letter of the win and Send the Letter to Skeeter and they send you the Bucks. BFL, BASS Federation, BASS Weekender Series, C&O Marine Trail, PBF Inc.Trail, Fishers Of Men, ABA, all are Skeeter Bonus bucks events. I know a guy that fishes out of an Old Old Skeeter Strada and he won a SMBCBT last year and collected $1,000.00 Skeeter Bonus Bucks.........
