I'm getting ready to buy another fish finder for the front of the boat to replace my hummingbird 525. I'm wanting to get a gps combo mainly to see the contour lines of what I'm fishing and to upgrade to color, I won't really be using this one for navigation just to mark spots. I was just wondering if anybody has used the Humminbird Fishfinder 595c Combo and would like your opinions on it. I would get the map upgrade. Also would they be any trouble/interference with putting the transducer on the trolling motor? Thanks for the input.

Never used a Humminbird gps, i'm sure its a fine unit, although alot of people seem to favor the Lowrance units (excluding the SI Humminbirds), for their sonar and gps capabilities. You'll be fine w/the transducer on the trolling motor, but you'll probably want to be sure your power supply for the unit is dedicated for that unit only and not powering other electronics and such in the boat as this could cause interference.

I've got the lowrance for the indash (x96) and I love it. The thing I like about the hummingbird is the way it mounts and swivels and how easy it is to disconnect . Never had thought about interference from other things other than the trolling motor thanks for the input.

The Lowrance is a MUCH better sonar. You will more than likely get a little interference putting the transducer on the trolling motor head but it will only be when running the motor. The interference will look like linear streaks and are more annoying than anything. Get the 520 or 522.

what are you going to do with the one you are taking off the boat??if you are going to sell it how much would you take for it?

I've promised it to the guy that helped me setup my blacklights. You know though for a couple hundred I can easily let it go

Looking at the Lowrances I noticed one has an external and one has internal antenna. I know if I was going to use it for navigation I would use an external however since I'm going to use it mainly for marking brush piles and looking at contour lines while fishing will the internal be ok. Thinking I may be be better off with lowrance since a good sonar is a big plus for me.

One thing I hate about my handheld gps is that the most accurate I can get is within 15-20ft. What kind of accuracy can I expect with a fish/gps combo, I'm guessing an external antenna will greatly help the gps accrruracy. Thanks for the replies
