Hooray for Alton he and Jay Yelas are big buddies (both are Texans) and now they both have won the Classic. KVD had a bad last day but he is always a threat. My feller came in 14th I believe but keep an eye on Dave Wolak he's an up and comer.

river pro had a great seat. I was lucky also, I was one of the puralator big bass finalist. they paired me up with greg hackney but his biggest was 4.4. thats ok because I got to set down low and did not have stand in the long line at the weigh-in. they took us in on a vip shuttle. my first classis and definately not my last.

Got any pics to post for us River Pro?

I left my digital camera at home
, but i brought my video camera and got some pretty good video. My dad had his camera but we really didnt get any "great" shots. The lake was so far away from the weigh-in and expo center and we heard you couldnt really see anything so we didnt even go watch em blast off or anything like that. This years classic was fun but i wish we were able to get close to the pros and their rigs and stuff as they were putting in and taking out. We went to the expo center pretty much all day during the day, there werent any tvs or anything showing updates so you didnt have a clue on how the guys were doing on the lake. The expo was huge but there really werent any great deals or anything special there, besides a few free cans of skoal
. You could get most stuff at the expo for the same price as you can here or online. My dad and a few others went to the 04 Classic on Lake Wylie in Charlotte and they said it was 10 times better than this one. He said they had tvs and stuff set up at the expo that year showing the anglers fishin and giving updates so you knew what was happening through out the day. They got tons of free stuff at the 04 expo. They had nothing set up like that this year. We got us some lifetime member passes this year, which were supposed to give the lifetime members some added bonuses to their Classic experience for being lifetime members. Other than a small, exclusive lounge at the expo, there was nothing special about having a liftetime member pass. We really didnt get any special priveleges for having the passes. They even began seating the general public before they sat the lifetime members yesterday at the weigh in. It wasnt that well organized but i still had a great time.

It was a great Classic....the expo was incredible also...got to meet with the Skeeter pros..got to shop at Grady's...spent a little too much $$...but what the heck...The Classic comes this close only once in a few years....If I am correct it'll be at Birmingham in 2 years...guess I'll need to make plans then...as for the Champ....lets hear it for the SKEETER BOYS...

Bad as I hate to say it I'm glad Alton won, he is a class act, but I'm a KVD fan and it would have been nice to see him win but he's won enough for now I guess. It was wild how the last day all those people moved up from the bottom of the list like G-man and Hackney, and Skeet. If the weather would have stayed the same on Sat, I think KVD would have blown them out, but he switched patterns and still caught them. Also the bigger fish moved up in the last 2 hours and that when KVD caught most of his fish the last 2 days. Alton stayed on them and pick them apart one at a time. He had a game plan and stuck with it. He wasn't even in the top 10 on the first day was he?, goes to show you any good fishermen can catch a 1-day 20lb sack, but you have to be good when you can catch them 3-days in a row and catch good bags like the top 5 did. Ole' Charlie "DC" he had it but lost it on the final day, he fished his area to death for 2 days, That goes to show you, you better have more plans up your sleeve then just a few. I think that should have never happen, if you get to fish the classic, I would think you would have several areas that hold fish and not put your eggs in one basket, when he said "I'm fishing new water today", I knew that he was going to the bottom of the list, you can't do that in any Tx especially the CLASSIC. Hats off to him though he done good.....

After watching him the second day, I was kinda hoping Charlie Hartley would've pulled it off, but he totally bombed that last day

I was kind of hoping Charlie Hartley would pull it off too. Can't say i'd ever heard of the man before the classic, but I like to pull for the underdog. If you can call anyone good enough to make the classic an underdog.

Don't want to dispute anybody but I got a lot of free stuff at the Classic Expo simply by asking. I got 9 caps ,4 tee shirts, a Mitchell spinning reel,5 key chains, a fish bag for weigh ins, a pair of mechanic gloves , a Mercury tote bag and some soft plastic lures. I bought a reel at Dick's and got a free Berkly rod and a free Garcia rod. I found a lot of good deals at the Expo. We were at the launch Sat. and Sunday mornings and talked to all the pros as they were backed into the water. You had to be there to experience the excitement. I was with Skeeter 24 and he rubbed it in when he got to sit down in the special Purolator section. I would recommend any bass fisherman to try to make it to a Classic. Chuck<><

Hey Snoot, Wish you could have been there! You could watch a hundred Classics on T.V. but unless you are there you can't feel the excitement. We were on the ramp for the launch so close you could touch the boats. After the launch we walked over toward the dock and watched the boats go out. The dock was so crowded it almost went under water once! Music wide open, people yelling, Boats running, ESPN chopper swooping around...You had to be there. We took over 500 pix and we are going to edit them this week so I will post some as soon as I get the disc. Got to meet and shake hands with Hank Parker, O'Neil Williams, Shaw Grigsby and Ray Scott who told me his family was originally from Hardin Co. KY. The whole trip (4 1/2 hrs. from Pikeville) is one I won't soon forget. Chuck <><
