A friend and I went to upper end of Cherokee today (point 29 and above). We just wanted to get out for the day and limber up the boat and our gear. Didn't really thinkit would be that great of a day with the blue bird skies (weather report said partly cloudy this AM--I can't believe those guys missed it
) and dingy to muddy water. Well it turned out much better than we expected. Started trolling shad-raps in about 10-12 feet and caught a 20" striper in about 20 minutes (boy was he skinny though). Then it slowed down some. A little later (about 11 AM) we started casting shad-raps to the north bank in about 5 feet of water and caught a nice 1 1/2 lb crappie and a coupleof decent largemouths. We then went further up and trolled some more and caught about a 7 lb. hybrid. Came back down about 4 PM and stopped at a creek mouth and ended up catching 9 more largemouths with several over 3 pounds and I even caught one about 5 lbs. Just goes to show you how good God is to give us this great area to use and even blesses us with some nice fish!!!! I'll try to post some photos later when my friend emails them to me. Have a great weekend.
