Well me and gotabig1 fished from 9-3 today and it was tough out there rain off an on sometimes pretty hard rain. We put in at Pickens still kinda nervous about TVA maybe if they raise it a few more feet i will start putting in up there again. Water temp was 44-46.5 i cant tell that the water has come up any since last week. I did end up boating one Large Mouth it wasnt nothing great. I threw crank bait some today and the FNF. Im tired of winter fishing i want spring to get here. But we was glad to get out on the water im guessing the big front that came threw might have had something to do with the fish but im not blaming it on the front we just struggled today. Maybe we will have better luck next time. Im ready for spring to come so i can fish my usual spots. Also we found enough bait fish today to sink the Titanic and we still didnt catch the bass lol i guess they just wasnt active from the front.

if we could just get some warm days to get the water temp up to about 50 i beleive the bass would really turn on to the crankbait bite a little more. But for some reason the water temp has been holding about the same on Boone for the past few weeks. We need a few warm days to get it up to 50 or above.

I went to Boone last Sunday and found a few keeper largemouth on the holston side. The best was about 3#, 2.5# for the other. Just running around the lake and happened upon some gulls trying to fly in the wind over the lake. I shut down and tied on a 1/4 oz fly (light grey buck tail) and tight lined around the flickers of shad under the water. I could feel the shad bumping the line, they were everywhere. Fished that area about an hour and had several hits along with the two keepers and a few snagged shad. I fished several other areas around the watauga side before going up the holston but no takers. I must have hit that spot just right. The rain ran me off that spot that evening and I dreamed about going back there all week but had to pay the bills.
This weekend I'm on Cherokee so if anyone is out at Boone they might want to look around just above candy creek in the more narrow areas of the lake. Steeper banks seemed to hold more shad. I enjoy reading all the good reports from you guys. Fairly new member and wanted to help a few like they've helped me. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.
