I know several of the items in the article below have already been discussed individually, however, I thought it might be good to have all the proposed changes available for those of you who may not have been made aware of the previously. Note, the TWRA will be meeting in Knoxville on October 29th-30th. If you feel strongly about a specific issue or issues, attend the meeting and voice your opinion.

Other changes being considered by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission (TWRC):

After hearing from several members of the public, the TWRC Fisheries Committee let it be known that it will also consider the following changes:

*Increasing the agency recommended 22 inches to a 24-inch minimum length limit on brown trout on the Caney Fork River with one fish allowed over 24 inches

*Also, on the Caney Fork, the TWRC Fisheries Committee will consider changing the daily creel limit from seven to five trout per day, per person

*The committee is also considering a change offered from the public that would increase the sauger minimum size limit from 14 to 15 inches on Kentucky Lake.

Bait Proclamations- Live Bait, Commercial and Sportfishing:

The bait regulation changes that were previewed at the September TWRC meeting will be presented for Commission approval at their October meeting. These regulation changes include: 1) adoption of the Live Bait Proclamation 09-20 which will regulate the sale and use of live bait for fishing; 2) Proclamation 09-21 which amends Commercial Fishing Proclamation 08-01 to allow commercial fishers to use live bait and provides guidelines for bait dealers who harvest live bait from the wild for the purpose of sale; and 3) an addition to the previously proposed Sport Fishing Proclamation 09-22 which would remove live bait regulations from the Sport Fishing Proclamation (because they will now be in the Live Bait Proclamation).

I won't be able to make it. My guess everything will stand as is, anyway. My take on the matter is public meetings are a formality before putting said regulations in place. Yep- I am not pro-gub'ment.

Well, it is comforting to know they the TWRA-C has once again ignored Old Hickory Lake for improvements. They place a slot limit on a Lake like Cordell Hull which is an entirely to large a limit of a 6 inch slot. They will do this on a lake that recieves about 1/10th the fishing pressure that Old Hickory does and will ignore Old Hickory. That is very thoughtful of them. I am hoping that with such sorry fishing on Old Hickory for the passed 4 years that fewer and fewer big tournaments will stop coming here and give the lake some breathing room and allow it to recover. Like the TX going out this coming weekend has 200 boats in it. We have been having tournaments like that pounding this lake for more years than I want to remember. First they kill the fishing when they killed the weeds in 1995 and now they are finishing it off with big tournaments. Last Spring if you wanted to catch 100 12 inch fish a day here you could. In the past few weeks I have been able to do some fishing and it is good to go out and boat 15 fish 12 inches long in an 8 hour day. I did a guide trip the past two days and we were lucky if we caught 20 fish a day and maybe put two keepers of 14 inches a day in the mix. All of the anglers that are in town are really complaining about not only size of fish but very small numbers of fish being caught in Practice. Even the local anglers that are practicing to fish in it are struggling to find fish much less keepers. I want to thank the TWRA-C once again for ignoring Old Hickory Lake.

Why don't you get Flipper to take all of the fish between 12-14" and have a community fish fry for the local community, or boy's club?

I grew up in middle TN and fished the hick a lot, and can remember the days when the grass was there. TWRA doesn't care about the resources in that area. It is obvious with the amount of drunk cruisers and wakeboarders on the lake on any given Saturday. There is more beer cans sunk in that lake than there are brushpiles.

Flipper has had his tournaments for a long time, and most of the guys have fished with him for years. Why don't he try to change his rules to try to help the lake? If you donated the small fish on every tournament, you may see a turn around in a few years. Until, they do something about the pleasure boaters tearing up spawning grounds, it will get worse and worse.

It's like you have always said it's about money.

Who was it that broke ther back over the weekend?
