Nice Sea Trout!

Your a fortunate Man to live on the water. I have fished for and caught all kinds of reef fish, off-shore fish and even a few types of fish which frequent bays, inlets, etc.... Never have I caught a Sea Trout. Tell us a little about them, please?

Thanks guys. I moved to my new place on the Indian river about a week and a half ago and couldn't be happier.

Archie, if you could take a large mouth bass and convert it to a saltwater fish, you would get a speckled sea trout. Everything about this fish reminds me of a LM minus the body shape, which imho is better built for speed. They hit like a bass and head shake just like one. I think trout are th best saltwater fish for getting the bass guys hooked on inshore fishing. If you were fishing for trout your color schemes on your plastics would be similiar to those you would choose bass fishing. Except you are fishing 2-4 ft. Of water for them so your plastics need very little or no weight

Thanks Radon,

I always wanted to catch some Speckled Trout, but never in the right place at the right time. I only get to salt water fish about 7 days per year.

I usually go to the Gulf around the Destin, Fort Walton or Mary Ester area. I used to always charter a boat for reef fishing, but in recent years I am to stingy to fork over the bucks so I mostly fish off jetties, piers or around bridges. I have rented a boat a few times and gone solo into the bay, but my success in the bay is very limited.

For the last 5-years we have been going to the Outer Banks area.

I went to Aruba once and fished for 3-days on a Charter boat. It was my best trip ever. I had the whole boat to myself, it was awesome.

Alas, I can not afford to do that anymore. I guess I could if I sold my bass boat or put it on the CC. But, neither of those are likely to happen.

Thanks for asking!
