I'm moving to Valdosta GA and love to bass fish! Can anyone

Point me to any close lakes or any good lakes in Georgia.

I'm a northeast Tennessee fisherman and now I've got to find

New fishing spots and a new fishing buddy. If anyone Can help me with

Lakes near Valdosta or really anywhere in GA this would be very

Helpfull. Thanks

Dirtslnger,

You are headed to bass fishing heaven. South centeral Georgia is covered with small lakes, ponds and rivers, all of which are full of BIG bass. (10 pounders are common) I'm from Georgia and moved up to the tri-cities several years ago. The fishing up here is good in it's own right, just real different from Georgia. (No gators)

The fishing is shallow and the water is murky but the fishing is great. If you are not familiar with the weather down there...it is HOT and HUMID! You have NEVER experience that kind of hot in east TN.

Lake Blackshear is just a little north of you and is a good bass and crappie lake and Lake Seminole is west of you across the state, but man oh man is is worth the trip...world class bass fishing. just becareful of the stumps, they are tough on your lower unit.

I miss my Georgia bass fishing, but here I do have smallies and trout to chase so I guess it is a good swap. Good luck in GA...GO DAWGS...SICK 'EM...

Dirtslngr,

as Tnenticer said, its bass heaven. I have fished both Alabama and Ga. and there is nothing like GA when it comes to bass fishing. I retired out of the army in hinesville (outside savannah) and just had dreams of fishing for the big ones the rest of my life. Then the wifey went and moved us back to her home in KY and life for bass fishing has not been right since. When i was catching 3 and 4 lbrs in KY or TN, ppl were saying nice hog. But to me, they are nothing but babies compared to that of GA. As TNenticr said, catching 5 lbrs all day is more the norm down there. As he said, its a different type of weather than that of East Tn. Make sure to take plenty of water and sun block. To add to the list he gave, it will take a little time on a trip but worth it,,,,,,Eufala is there, you also have Lanier if you want to get into some serious striper fishing. The altamaha river is just outside of savannah, where perry caught his world record. Its a rough river, but lord, the monsters i have caught there is fantastic. Wish you alot of luck in your new bass fishing adventure. I am quite sure that once you latch on to the Ga norm size bass enough, you will see what we were talking about it being bass heaven.
