Fished from 7am to 11 tues. I fished 4 new spots from childers creek to the boat ramp trying to learn the river. Very little flow till they kicked on the turbines at 10.30.Only caught three small rainbows, nymph, wet fly,and dryfly. Found one spot full of fish but they did not like what i had to offer. Broke off a nice one and had several misses as the current picked up. Fished with a 1940's refurbished bamboo I recently purchased so I can put my Father's southbend up.Graphite is so much faster and lighter to fish with and i make better cast with it. Could be the reason my catch was low was due to slow clear water and to many bad cast. Went two weeks ago caught a limit including my first brown. They were running 1 turbine and all but 1 were caught on dry flies. The one piece of advice I can give is the longer the drift the better the chance of a strike.

thanks for the report i fished for about ten minutes at the power house last weekend and missed one on a spoon. My buddy caught a few trout and a creek chub with worms. There was a million fisherman and a million pleasure boats. We floated once they turned the water on and it was a blast. Freezing cold though

i've been hearing good things about the hiwassee lately. makin me think its worth a trip down there. looks to be about the same in mileage as a trip up a mountain for me. is it similar to fly fishing the clinch, as in bigger water/smaller flies?
