Default Prop Question

Got a prop question for you guys:

I've got a 21' bass boat with a 200 Merc. I currently have a 23 pitch prop on it and was considering going with a 25 pitch to see if would give me a little more top end. I always want to go just a little faster. What's your thoughts? Will it help or hurt with rmp's, coming out of the hole, worth the $, etc? Thanks for any input.

Need to know more specifics on your rig. What 21' boat and 200 Merc are we talking about. How is your hole shot now? How many RPM's are you turning with the 23?. My initial thoughts are that, you're a little underpowered with the 200, especially if it's a 2.5 liter. I believe your top end gain will be minimal with the 25 and hole shot will probably suffer as well. Might be worth a try IF you can borrow a 25 for free.

The boat is a Shadow. Pretty light hull design. Motor is a 200 Promax. Hole shot is pretty good with the 23. Just looking for a little more speed. Running around 6200 rpm's right now.

With that light hull/hi revving Pro Max combo, it might be worth a try. I'd try to borrow a 25 from a friend/prop shop to run before you make your $$ decision. Might also be able to have the shop work on your 23 to get a little more on top. It's pretty common to loose some hole shot if you prop for top end, however.
