So I have fished plenty for trout on the fly, but this year I decided to give smalles a try. I have mainly fished the nolichucky using conventional gear, and had great success on silver spinners with yellow/white/cheurtruse colored skirts and white/green grubs. So I figured I would use similar colored whooley buggers, clousers, and top water poppers. Any other advice on how to fish these presentations? Any suggestions on what else to use?

My main concern is that I mostly fish pretty swift current for the smallies and am wondering how to fish in a similar aspect on the fly.

those are all good choices, as are crayfish. i have caught a few on a clouser style streamer i tie using marabou and flashabou instead of buck tail. i like the marabou better than the bucktail, i think it gives a better fish profile and more movement when stripped.

byron at little river outfitters also ties a pattern he calls the knucklehead that work pretty well. free shipping is a plus
