I went to the TWRC meeting in Greenville yesterday. I went as an observer and wound up having to work a little. Commissioner Chad Baker tried to amend proclamation 14-17 changing the smallmouth regulations on Douglas, Cherokee, and Ft. Loudoun-Tellico without a period of public comment. Mr. Baker’s amendment was asking to change the Smallmouth limits on Douglas (20 inch), Cherokee (18 inch), and Ft. Loudoun-Tellico (18 inch) to 15 inches. After some discussion the Commission Fishing Committee withdrew the proposed amendment and proposed a new amendment. The new amendment was requesting that the Smallmouth length limit be changed on Douglas from 20 inches to 16 inches with no discussion as to numbers of fish that may be captured. The current number of Smallmouth allowed on Douglas is one per angler.
