Fun Day on the river. Decided to go wade Little River and chase some of my favorite fish. I invited my friend Kathy Smith to try some fishing that she had never done before. Kathy is a very accomplished tournament fisher-person but she had never gotten up close and personal by wading. We got on the water by 6:00 am and started by capturing some bait. We eased into the water and began seining to catch some Grampus(hellgrammites). After a lengthy search we finally had a few and decided to get started. We put in at the Old Wilson's Bridge just off of 321. At the end of the day we had traveled about 5 water miles over some very tough terrain. Not so much up and down unless you count all of my falls and slips. There is a lot of aquatic vegetation, but the very next large flat rock would be so slick you couldn't pick yourself up after landing on it. lol Then there would be thousands of golf ball size or a little bigger rocks that were so slick they would not stick to the bottom. About like walking on golf balls on a slope. My knees look like they have been run threw a meat grinder and I am sore all over. That was the tough part.
The fun part was catching quality fish on a gorgeous river and being pretty much to yourself. Despite the tough walk, collecting bait(except having to hold them), numerous dunks and scrapes, Kathy was all smiles and excitement. She can't wait to go again. She also caught a couple of the largest Redeyes, smallmouth, and two stonerollers. Just another great day on the water.
Redeyes are my favorite pan fish to eat. After a hard day on the water there is nothing better then a large platter of fried fish and homemade chips.

Good you were able to get out and catch a few! I hope to hit the river this weekend. Maybe the bite will still be on.
