My son and I are going to a overnight camp this weekend and are going to fish out of a camoe. I was just wondering if anyone has ever fished here and what would be a good bait or lure. Am use to fishing the Clinch and Douglas Lake, not nuch of a river fisherman. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You can catch a lot of bluegill and red eye with float and crickets. look for shaded banks under the overhanging trees. Small jigs, small buzz baits and in -line spinners will about guarantee a smallmouth or ten. Fish the buzzbaits above the shoals in flat water, spinners work good there too, throw your jig around any logs or limbs in the water. Take your time, stop to wade the good rapids and you will have a blast.

P.S. Don't forget the pic nic lunch

Any certain color of these or will pretty much any one work? What kind of spinners are we talking spinner baits or rooster tails? Thanks so much for the info. I dont fish the rivers much. But thank you.

[sub]I prefer dark colors like green with gold spinners. I make my own, they are just a larger more natural looking lure than the store bought rooster tail.. The buzz baits that work are white and also chartreuse.. The jigs should be natural colors to match the bait there, crrawfish, small bluegill, hellgrammites any thing that might crawl around the river.. Good news is this time of year almost anything will work. We will probably seine for live bait this sunday when we float ( hellgrammites) [/sub]

[sub] Good Luck and have fun[/sub]
