So on my way home I heard a news blurb about tailwater fishing being banned. I fish numerous tailwaters on a regular basis and this is the first I have heard. In freak out mode right now.. anyone have details?

Just heard on radio twra is balking at corps of engineers saying that fisherman have a good track record of safety below all dam tailwaters and are protesting any ban

Call me crazy , but , wouldn't it be nice if laws meant to control activities engaged in by by the citizens of this country were enacted by a majority vote of representatives elected by a majority vote of the citizens of this country who choose to vote instead of having a military official of high rank arbitraily dictate his whims upon the people who are forced to cough up the money to pay his bloated salary and huge pension .

the ACE is facing pretty stiff opposition from all sides. anglers in two states are totally peeved, twra has said they won't enforce it, and lamar alexander has introduced legislation to block this, as well as threatening to go after their funding if they continue to go ahead with implementation. i don't see how they can win this one

Lee Roberts, a public affairs specialist with the Corps' office in Nashville, said Wednesday that the agency was beginning immediately to post signs and set warning buoys. Enforcement will begin later in the summer.

Roberts also said the Corps is not totally dependent upon state wildlife officers for enforcement.

"Corps park rangers do have federal citation authority," Roberts said.

Mr Roberts attitude is a fine example of the out of control over reaching over spending federal attitude, state and local opinion, and resident / taxpayers be darned!

States and localities detain illegal immigrants and Napolitano turns them loose due to lack of funding.

Quote:
The discussion on ICE beds was colored by the controversy that ignited earlier this year, when news broke that the agency released more than 2,000 detainees in February.

Can't afford White house visits or FAA employees but Roberts is not concerned. Apparently THE CORPS has more than enough money for signs and bouys and labor cost to install and plenty of money for enforcement of unneeded and unwanted Federal bullying.

Must be nice. A racket to take money from State residents, ship it to Washington so they can use it as THEY see fit, even if it is against rather than for the residents benefit.

I don't fish any of those waters but, if they are bullying you this week they could just as well be bullying me the next.

Sen Alexander has the right idea. The arrogance displayed by Mr Roberts, on behalf of the corpse, deserves looking into. He and they have obviously forgotten, or just do not care, where his power and that of the corps comes from. Simple answer, TN and KY and 48 other states people via their hard earned tax dollars.

The corps is obviously over funded if it can afford to arrogantly dismiss the wishes of state residents and hire people such as Mr Roberts to make sure we understand their disdain. They could have done the same without wasting words - They could have simply posted a picture of Mr Roberts, with his middle finger in the air, superimposed upon a corps logo.

I have emailed Mr Roberts quote to my representatives Sens Alexander, Corker and Rep David Roe along with my comment that I find it arrogant and object to my tax dollars paying his salary.

If you feel the same pls take the time to let your reps know your feeling.

Glad to know Tennessee is standing up for our rights... worried TVA will be next.
