First trip to calderwood - East Tennessee Fishing

We went to calderwood last weekend for the first time ever and was pretty successful. We covered the entire lake but had better luck around the upper end. Never really did find a solid pattern but some trout were hitting floating baits and some hit right off the bottom. Ended up with about 10 rainbows including my personal best. Water temp was 38 I think. Ice forming on surface in calm areas.

I am glad to hear the report.I havent fished Calderwood in quite some time.I love the lake and have caught some really nice fish there.Has anyone fished for walleyes here?I am not sure that they are even there.I have caught some nice smallies and lots of trout.I am glad to see that you did well,thats a pretty fish.I will go up there in the next couple of weeks and let you guys know if I do any good.Till then keep us posted.

I know it is primarily a trout lake but I want to try to bass fish it. I seen quite a bit of milfoil. I don't know how it can survive in such cold temps.

there are walleyes in there, little tennessee river is good for em anywhere

I know that little lake below it has a few in it.They give me fits.Never seem to be able to get an exact pattern.maybe someday i will pull a rabbit out of my hat.
