Going to try to get up to calderwood in the next month or two. i have a 14ft flat bottom and a trolling motor. Never fished the lake before. Anyone been there recently? any advice would be much appreciated. I would love to catch a brown or a big rainbow... i grew up bass fishing, so i'll be a little out of my element....

I've only been there once, but its a really nice lake. Find the thermocline and the baitfish and troll at that depth. I'd recommend trolling small rapalas and/or rebel minnows. If you're just casting for them, you'll probably do fairly well with minnows and nighcrawlers. Caught my first lake trout at Calderwood! There are perch in that lake, too.

Troll towards cheoah "or however you say it", dam, opposite bank from the boat ramp. Throw a small rapala towards the bank and twitch it by the lay downs. I've caught some good browns doin that on calderwood. They will absolutely crush it, if it gets tough throw in a pause or two. Smallies will eat it up 2, but mainly browns.
