I am not a big live bait guy so this may sound dumb to some of you folks but i will never learn unless I ask.Can you catch shad on norris?I can use a cast net rather well and have a 30gal grayline tank but just need to locate some shad to try. What is the best size to use this time of year?Do we still "match the hatch"or go bigger? Thanks for any and all your help guys

Live bait can be caught on Norris but that is not what most of us do unless you can get it under the lights at night. I use large gizzard shad (8 to 12 inch) this time of year.

Yes still looking for Norris but Cherokee has a lot of bait and fish that likes to play on top water this coming season, so may start looking for Cherokee more.

It is somewhat seasonal on bait catching locations for gizzards. This upcoming season will mostly be on the upper part of Cherokee @ Quarryville. This past summer season most often was in the coves near Bull Run Steam plant or the coves on Watts Bar. Late winter, early spring is under the lights to catch alewife in the main channel of Norris.
