This trip is marked on our calendars every year and another open water season was kicked off in style.

We had to work for these fish, covering a ton of water over the last 3 days while picking up a fish or two off spots. A vast majority of the fish came out of shallow water on boards & long lines while the deep water dipsy bite was very slow.

Anyhow, I think I am just going to let the pics fly.

Yea guys....thanks for sharing with us southern folk. I thought about ya'll the other day and wondered if you were going to post again on ETF. I really enjoy seeing your pics and alot of other members do too! Thanks again and

One question, do you guys smallmouth and walleye fish up there?

kinda whj. sometimes we'll troll with a 6hp kicker and the buckets are not needed but when we get sick of the 2 stroke fumes we'll run the big motor (90hp 4str) and use one or two buckets to keep the speed down. the trout like it slow this time of year.

if you breathe in enough of those 2stroke fumes you start to think like a fish. those were some massive trout

Thanks guys.. how do you follow up a wknd like that? With some real hawgs of course!!

.and "the hawg"!!

brownfish, lots of smallies & walleye around. we don't fish bass as the season opens a week or so after muskie season - we typically focus our attention on the toothy critters until the ice forms in the fall. they're just an incidental catch on the big lures.

we do fish walleye & this one was caught last canadian thanksgiving (mid-oct)

Holy crap those are some big trout and walleye! I guess they have time to grow since most of the year everything is iced over and you can't get to them very well.

Well done Raf

I always look forward to your ice out reports, heck I look foward to all of them period
.

One would be hard pressed to find another boat with three better fisherman.

Not to take anything away from this report but the same excursion I believe two years ago was insane and is probably in my top five reports of all time.

Thanks for sharing
