I plan on going out on Friday with my wife, who isn't much of a fisher. I rarely ever use live bait but doubt she would enjoy a day of casting. Is there much luck with minnows this time of year?

Fish 'em aroung the bridge supports. 11-E bridge at Winged Deer, or Pickens either one. Use as little weight as you can get away with and no bobber unless she needs it.

I don't think there's a bad time of the year to fish minnows. There's thick schools of shad in the headwaters. The small ones at the "trashline" and larger ones are further up in the shoals.

Thanks for the advice guys. Went out this morning but my wife didn't because of the rain. I'll save the info for another day. Just caught 1 small lm on a senko on timber. Had another lm about 2lbs get off at the boat. It was on a RC 3.5 crankbait off rocks. Didn't expect much because we were going to go after getting the kids off to school. Got there about 9:00 and gone by 1:30.

Me and my dad got on some more hybrids last monday morning at rainbow bridge. We wound up with only 2 hybrids and 2 bass. If you get there at daylight throw topwater around the bridge or try jiggin a spoon. They were busting shad pretty hard. Good luck.
