Friends, i have been a crappie fisherman all my life, hence my screen name "crap" . i recently traded boats and have a nice boat for stripers, which i am just learning to fish for. the key seems to be live bait. i can throw a cast net well. i would appreciate any tips on where to find bait from kidwell launch. i have down riggers and can troll with plastics but havent had much luck with that so far. im going this weekend and thank you kindly in advance for any response.

Check out Ezell's post in the striper section. Lots of information in there. that will certainly get you headed in the right direction.

Went last Saturday out of Kidwell. Had a real hard time catching bait in that area. Ended up running down to moss creek to get bait. It was also midday too. Early am would probably be easier. Caught hybrids at pt 9 and striper the next island up. All on downlines 25 down. Good luck.

We caught our bait. It was in the middle of the cove. Couldn't find any back in the shallows midday. May come back to cherokee next weekend.
