ok I get the land it quick as possible because of the stress thing . But I also see a lot of run it in the net as quick as possible so it doesn't have a chance to throw the hooks going on and probably mostly, if not all, that . It is rough on a big fish to throw it in the bottom of a boat green and have it bouncing all over the place, too, banging itself up and then keeping it out of the water too long for photo's and high fives and all that . If i catch one it will be like any other big fish I have caught and that means getting it back on it's way in as good of shape as possible as quickly as possible . I have seen a lot of bass fisherman snatch a bass out of the water and into the boat as soon it hits the lure and then let it bounce all over the boat before they throw it in the livewell . They aren't doing that beacause they are concerned about stressing the fish .

Most musky anglers have huge nets, mine is 4 feet deep and when i net a fish I leave it in the water while removing the hooks. The really experienced guys keep a fish out of the water less that 30 seconds.

One other thing, if you fish all day long for one fish, when you finally get to hook it you want to make sure that you land it.

i also have a very large landing net made by loki nets. makes releasing fish alot easier and helps fish maintain strength after being dragged in
