How good is the crappie fishing at Cherokee? I hear a lot about Douglass but not much about Cherokee. I know that crappie fishing anywhere can be very tough right now. But I was wondering about during the spring or fall.

Years ago, 50s,60s.70s. , if we wanted amounts of crappie, we went to Douglas. If we wanted larger (3-4#) crappie, we went to Cherokee. Seems we only needed a oll-fly" or two to troll behind an old Wizzard 5 HP . Even tho the limit was either 30 or 100 per person, we never took more than enough to make a meal. We almost never used minnows because we didn't have the money or need. Nowadays, its the oldest arguement in fishing--Stripe, Hybrid, Rockfish, whatever you call them- against the "natural" of Crappie, Walleye, bass. etc. Since I can't catch other than Hybrids in Cherokee, I only fish Douglas, and hope that TWRA doesn't flood the lake with the "UNWANTED" dada 0-13-12 9:50 AM
