I'm sure that this may have been brought up before but given the fact that we are growing by leaps and bounds every day, week and month, it never hurts to revisit a topic like this one. I wanted to remind everyone that the great state of TN offers a Lifetime Sportsman License to all residence of the state. While the cost is a little steep for most adults, the cost for those in the Under 3 and the 3-7 age groups is not bad when you sit down and do the math. If you have a newborn or child 7 and under, this would make a great birthday, Christmas or just because gift. My in-laws bought my oldest boy one for Christmas when he was 2 and they are now getting ready to buy my youngest one as well. As much as they both love to fish and knowing it's something they will not outgrow, I'm pretty sure this was a good investment. In addition, the lifetime license remains in effect, even if the license holder moves out of state later on in life. Checkout the link below for more info on this program.

Both of my kids (ages 2 and 4) have the lifetime licenses. Even if their interests change over the years, it's nice to know that they'll have to come back to fishing in order to spend time with dear ole dad.

Even for adults, steep price and all, if you figger on fishing/hunting for 13 more years, buying a $100 annual sportsmans you would come out ahead.........

Ive had my lifetime since 2004, so ive only got to live to hunt/fish for another 7 yrs to make it pay off!!

i got mine when i was 13 for 1200 for christmas, now im 21 and it has paid for its self almost on the money i would think. yearly sportsman liscense is over 100, i hunt and fish so i would need that.I have been to citici easily 100 times to trout fish and it exempts me from trout stamp or citico permit(or atleast i think it does and hope it does cause i never get one).I know its a repeat of said words.BUT if gettin the money cash or credit, ITS WELL WORTH IT, or wait till ur like 75 and its only $15

My Father-in-law works for TWRA and has made it a point to get one for every grandchild he's got the year they are born. My Son is going on two months old now and he's already been told there'll be one waiting in his stocking this year.

I really do think they are wonderful to have.

Im lucky enough to have a father the loves the outdoors and respects the laws of our great state enough to buy me a lifetime license when I was twelve. It is hands down the greatest gift I have ever been given. Im almost twenty-one now and I never have to worry about buying a license or when they go on sale or when they expire. The only thing left to buy are special permits such as for fishing in and around Gatlinburg and a duck stamp. So if you have a young son or daughter do them a huge favor and get them one. I am sure they will appreciate it at some point in their life.

Good luck
