:: Question
My ten year old son wants to go fishing, where would be a good place to go? We don't have a boat and usually go bank fishing for bluegill. I hear crappie are good this time of year. Suggestions?

Oh one more thing, we're in Knoxville.

I fish at least once every day and my only advice to you as a bank fisherman (like myself), is to fish below Cherokee Dam - the river (Holston River). It's a completely different game when it comes to bank fishing vs. boat fishing but i'm anxious to see what some of the other guys' suggestions are for bank fishing the lake. I might get a few new ideas for places to try! I suggest below the dam because it never fails, that's where I catch the most fish and VARIETY. I have personally caught smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, striper, walleye, rainbow and brown trout, catfish, bluegill/sunfish, drum and buffalo. I've also seen sauger and lake sturgeon caught there. Good luck with wherever you choose!

Thanks, that's a good idea. I like to go to Byrd Creek access but with the drawdown figured that wouldn't be any good. Def will try the river.
